The music is fun, with many themes calling back to older games, even in the early going. It’s truly beautiful and groundbreaking how much detail is packed into each location and the speed it at which it is thrown at the player. It all comes together and helps sell the visuals and presentation beyond mere gimmicks or one-off loading tricks. Each new planet actually feels like a new planet, the SSD ensures time warps and rift jumping is seamless and rapid fire.
#Ratchet and clank tv tropes series
The PS5 brings Ratchet and Clank to life in ways the series could never reach before. It may sound like I’m talking about story, but I’m speaking more about Rift Apart’s visual language. It is fast-paced, it doesn’t wallow in tropes, and most important, it maintains a great pace from start to end. The visuals of the game are great on the surface, and in the small details. Here, you’ll find brisk, responsive real-time combat that has you doing jumps, dodges and weapon management in between bouts of melee and ranged combat. The combat system wasn’t completely remade from scratch but instead feels like an evolution of prior titles.

The latest sequel feels like they really wanted to improve on the problems people had with the older titles. The older Ratchet and Clank titles were charming, with a welcoming style and sense of whimsy tied together with a somewhat by-the-numbers plot. That incredible opening set of moments is what jump-starts this adventure.

Clank and Rivet must then find a way to restore the Dimensionator and stop not just one, but two versions of Dr. When Clank re-appears he is standing in front of another Lombax, Rivet, this alternate dimension’s last Lombax hero. A few moments later, the Dimensionator goes off, and Ratchet and Clank are separated inside of a dimension different from their own. As they celebrate, lasers fly right overhead and start destroying the parade. Spoilers for the first 15 minutes of this game! Rift Apart starts off with Ratchet and Clank in a convoy celebrating all of their heroic deeds.
